In 2021, Sebastian Moore founded Hope Swims after recognizing that children in foster care and other at-risk situations often lack access to swim lessons—putting them at greater risk of drowning. Determined to change that, he launched a free, youth-led program and has continued running it every summer since.
Sebastian continues to lead and grow the program, recruiting more volunteers and reaching even more families each summer. He is a sophomore at the University of Texas–Dallas, pursuing a degree in public health with plans to attend medical school, with hopes of continuing to serve at-risk communities.
In addition to running Hope Swims, Sebastian volunteers with Mercy Hospice in Dallas, is active in several pre-med organizations, and works as a lifeguard on campus.
